NOAH 10/02/2004 results
The opener was standard Momota-Eigen fair. Marufuji & Kawabata sat out most of the match till the closing scramble with the time limit ending with everyone in a big brawl.
The next match was a Junior war that saw a upset of sorts when Makoto Hashi pinned Low Ki following a Gori-Thunder off the top rope! Ogawa thought he was pretty crafty as he bullied Kotaro Suzuki, but paid for it when Suzuki suplexed him out of the ring to the floor! Suzuki the missed a painful looking corkscrew plancha out to the floor as Ogawa dodged it! Pretty good back and forth scramble near the end before Hashi scored the upset win over Zero-One’s World 1 Junior champion!
The next match was an incredible 30-minute draw between the top members of Sterness and the top members of Team Kaos! Bison and Modest took control early, but the Sterness team made a big come back! A great series of reversals between the Juniors ended with Kanemaru giving Modest a low vitals kick, showing him who the top rudo junior is! Bison overpowered Akiyama early on, but with some help from his partner, Akiyama took down Bison before he and Kanemaru “made a wish”! The ending scramble saw all four men getting involved. Akiyama hit an Exploder on Bison, followed by a brainbuster, but the big gaijin kicked out at 2! Kanemaru than showed off to his senior when HE hit a brainbuster on the super-heavyweight Bison! Bison hit the Bisontenial on Akiyama as the clock counted down, but only scored a 2! They traded blows and Bison hit a second Bisontenial as the time expired!
Vader made a successful return to NOAH next as he teamed with long time partner Scorpio to face Honda & Inoue. Vader showed a bit of ring rust at the beginning, came back into his game as he leveled Inoue with hard strikes, followed by a powerbomb and even busted out the old moonsault! The match would have been won if Honda didn’t make the save! Scorpio was no slouch either as he took out both Honda & Inoue with a rolling senton off the second rope! Vader then held off Honda as Scorpion roll-up Inoue for the win.
The next match saw the two aces of the company square off in tag action as Kobashi teamed with young KENTA against Misawa & former GHC Jr. champion Sugiura! KENTA took it straight to Sugiura at the start of the bell, knocking him out of the ring and scoring his multi-hit punch-kick combo! Kobashi would tag in and trade reversals with Sugiura, before Sugiura caught him in a chicken wing armlock! Misawa would tag in the big strike exchange between the two aces would begin! KENTA would come in and hit a beautiful German suplex on Misawa. Closing moments of the match saw Kobashi give Sugiura a nasty looking Orange Crush out on the floor! KENTA would then easily score the pin on Sugiura with a roll-up as Kobashi brawled with Misawa.
The main event of the evening was a no.1 contenders match to see which team would challenge for the GHC tag titles on 10/15 at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium. Maybe it was because of the beating Yone took the last time he was involved in a big tag match with WILD II, but Ikeda worked most of the match for his team, and took a brutal beating from their bigger opponents! Ikeda was quick to evade at first, but was eventually caught. Despite putting up a big fight, Ikeda took a powerbomb from each Takeshi before Morishima put him away with a big side back suplex for the win.
