World Japan 11/26 Results

Some unexpected surprises at the World Japan show to crown new WMG Tag Team Champions. The show started off with Animal Warrior and Scott Steiner, half of two of the greatest American tag teams ever, teaming up and defeating the WEW team of Kintaro Kanemura & Tetsuhiro Kuroda. The WEW team may have been out-sized and out-powered, but they had cunning on their side as they lead the opening moments of the match using low-blows and quick tags to weaken Steiner. Steiner would make a comeback and lauch both his opponents with HUGE German-suplexes! Steiner would also score the win, pinning Kuroda with a Death Valley Driver. The next match saw two of the favourites to win the tournament go at is as Kensuke Sasaki teamed up with Katsuhiko Nakajima to face the Zero-One team of Kohei Sato & Hirotaka Yokoi. Nakajima showed good form in this match, despite being outsized by Sato & Yokoi, and the match was very even. End saw Sasaki win the match when he dropped Yokoi on his head with a variation of the Northern Lights Bomb and got the pin. The third match saw Kronik return to Japan as they faced Riki Choshu and his mystery partner, which turned out to be Kenzo Suzuki! His time in World Wrestling Entertainment didn't do him any good though, as he was pummeled by the big gaijin team and ultimately took the fall from a chokeslam by Brian Adams. The final first round match of the night saw a bit of an upset as MPro's Dick Togo & Minoru Fujita scored the surprise win on the WJ team of Takashi Uwano & Kuniyoshi Wada. The match was pretty much back and forth with the WJ team having a power advantage, but the rudo tactics of the MPro helped even the odds and score the upset when Togo pined Wada with a Pedigree to advance to the semi-finals. Could they pull off a 2nd upset by beating Kronik? Takao Omori was scheduled to face Don Frye in singles action next, but Frye couldn't make it so he was replaced by Taichi Ishihikari. The former WAR shooter may have been bigger than Omori, but the Wild Heart took it straight to him! Ishihikari barely managed to get in any offense as Omori just overwhelmed him with Axe-Bombers and a full-nelson bomb. Omori the picked up the big man and dropped him in the Guillotine Axe Driver for the win. Omori immediately grabbed the microphone and challenged the winner of the WMG World Title match for a shot at the title. Round two of the tournament kicked off with a big of a shocker, as Animal & Steiner overcame the team of Sasaki & Nakajima! But it's not without question, as Steiner gave Nakajima a big release German suplex, and the 16yr old youngster was knocked unconscious, forcing the referee to stop the match and award it to the gaijin squad. The next semi-final match saw the MPro rudo team struggle against Kronik, but despite their dirty tactics of using low-blows and such, were still overpowered and Adams scored the victory with a powerbomb on Fujita to advance to the finals. The WMG World Title was on the line next as Steve Williams defended against Tomohiro Ishii. Ishii made quite an impression several months back when he held his own against Williams in the tournament semis where Williams won the title. He didn't fare as well this time though, as Dr. Death was on the attack early and rushed the youngster. Ishii did put up a fight though, as he managed to kick out of a dangerous backdrop-pin and the Doctor-bomb! Williams finally managed to put him away with the Oklahoma Stampede to retain the title. The finals of the tag tournament saw a big brawl between 4 big men. The match was back and forth as both teams traded powerbombs and suplexes, but the end saw Kronik become the new tag champions when Brian Adams pinned Rick Steiner using Clark's Meltdown pumphandle slam.
