AJPW 3/15/05 Results

The AJPW Hold Out Cup Tour kicked off from Korakuen Hall with some surprising results in the first round of the tournament. The first tournament match saw Shigeo Okamura qualify over Taichi Ishikari after a hard fought battle. Ishikari matched Okamura move for move and scored several near falls througout the match. Ishikari even managed to kick out after a barrage of lariats and a avalanche-style brainbuster before Okamura finally put him down with an Exploder. Ex-BattlArts fighter Yuki Ishikawa managed to get by New Japan's Katsushi Takemura in the next match. Ishikawa was dominant in the early goings with his strike attacks and submissions, but Takemura rallied back and scored a near fall with a German suplex. Takemura took it straight to Ishikawa, but was finally put away in the end by a ground sleeper lock. The next match saw a surprise upset of sorts as Mini Love Machine defeated Kaz Hayashi with a La Majistral to advance to the next round! MLM battered Hayashi with headbutts and brawling tactics, but Hayashi battled back with a spinning heel kick and a headscissors takedown. The brawled outside briefly and back in the ring, MLM hit a Hawaiian Smasher for a near-fall before getting the flash win with the La Majistral! The final tournament match of the show saw Ebessan advance over Masayuki Kono in a great match. Kono was looking good as he overpowered Ebessan, but God of Comedy had more than one trick up his sleeve as he scored the win over Kono with a school-boy rollup. The main event saw Hiroshi Hase make his return to All Japan, and score a big upset as he pinned Kawada! Hase commented it was great to be back in the ring after a long absence due to his political duties, and hoped to continue wrestling as much as possible while he's still able.
