ZERO-1 6/18 Results

The Ten-Kai-Ichi Jr. Tournament continued today with Naohiro Hoshikawa taking the lead in Block A beating Taichi Ishikari for his second consecutive win in the league. Ishikari put on a strong showing, but was overwhelmed by Hoshikawa for the most part. Ikuto Hidaka scored his first win of the league beating Yoshihito Sasaki who has yet to score any points himself after two days of competition. The two put on an excellent back and forth contest full of near falls and big spots till Hidaka finally scored the win with his Shawn Capture roll-up. Takehiro Murahama took the lead in Block B with 4 points after getting his second win in the league against young Shinsuke "Z" Nakamura, who put on a strong showing. Nakamura managed to break Murahama's submission attempts and withstand his strong strikes, but was ultimately put away by Murahama's brainbuster. Veteran Tatsuhito Takaiwa scored his first win in the league beating DDT's Dansyoku Dieno, who was also trained by Takaiwa in the past. Dieno put on a surprisingly strong performance as he managed to kick out of Takaiwa's quadriple powerbomb combo, and later the triple-powerbomb/DVD combo! Takaiwa himself managed to kick out of Dieno's Dansyoku Driver several times before finally putting away his ex-protoge with a hard lariat. The show ended with a very strong tag main event as Shinjiro Ohtani & Masato Tanaka reunited to take on Daisuke Ikeda & Yoshiaki Fujiwara. Ikeda's second match in ZERO-1 representing FUTEN, he had a huge target on his head from the ZERO-1 aces and took a big beating throughout the match. Even though he lost in the end, he received alot of praise and applause for his performance and guts in the match, which he said in a post match interview that he will use as motivation in the upcoming Fire Festival.
