Zero-1 6/6/05 Results - New Champion!

There was a huge upset at Zero-1 MAX's bug Korakuen Hall show when in the main event, Steve Corino defeated Kohei Sato to win the World-01 Heavyweight Title! This was to be Sato's first defence of the title since winning it several months back beating Shinjiro Ohtani in the finals of a tournament. Sato controlled the match early on with strikes and ground submission holds, but Corino battled back attacking Sato's legs. They brawled to the outside where Corino struck Sato with a Singapore cane! But the young champion withstood it and gave Corino a big German suplex on the floor! Corino recovered and gave Sato a DDT on the floor! Corino continued his onslaught back in the ring with another big DDT for a near fall. Sato fought back with a big jumping knee in the corner followed by a beautiful German suplex hold for a near fall. The match would continue to see-saw back and forth for awhile till Corino hit the Northern Lights Bomb out of nowhere and scored the pinfall to become the new champion! The World-01 Tag Titles were also on the line as Masato Tanaka & Wataru Sakata successfully made a V2 defense the titles against Takao Omori & Kamikaze (Tengu Kaiser) in a great hard fought battle, mostly due in part to the Tanaka/Omori confrontation with the two just tearing into each other from the opening bell. Also on the show was the debut of AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels as they battled Low Ki and Vansack Acid in an great gaijin tag battle. Samoa Joe also got the fans to take notice on him when he almost single handedly dominated Tom Howard & CW Anderson in a tag match, and later rallied for a shot at whoever won the World-01 title match. It should be announced any day now if he will officially get a shot as Corino's first defence.
