All Japan 10/24/2004 Results

AJPW's Korakuen Hall show leading into this Sunday's October Giant Series tour finale gave the crowd one heck of a surprise in a five star match from two very unlikely individuals. Tag action kicked off the night as Masanobu Fuchi & Nobutaka Araya faced off with RO&D's TAKA Michinoku & D-Lo Brown. D-Lo got busted open by Fuchi's hard punches before taking one of the old-timer's trademark backdrops. D-Lo retaliated with a zero-sweep kick and tagged in TAKA as Araya tagged in. Araya quickly overpowered TAKA with hard bodyslams and suplexes, but TAKA rallied back with several submission attempts. D-Lo came in to even the score and hit the Sky High on Fuchi for a two count. D-Lo powerbombs Fuchi and hits moonsault for another two count before TAKA finishes the match with the Michinoku Driver on Fuchi. Singles action next as Big John Tenta made his return to the ring taking on Masayuki Kono, who together with Arashi prevented Tenta from even setting foot in the ring back on 10/03 during a tag match where Tenta's partner, George Hines, was totally squashed by the Japanese duo. Kono quickly took it to Tenta as he hammered away at the big gaijin and showed some power when he bodyslammed Tenta's massive frame! Kono would then vertical suplex the big man! Kono then centred his attacks on Tenta's legs, but the big man rallied back and dazed Kono with a flurry of headbutts and heavy strikes. Tenta then slammed Kono and gave him several hip drops, knocking the wind out of him. Tenta then gave Kono a big belly-to-belly suplex and finished the match with the Earthquake Vertical Splash for the win! Tenta now centres his attention to Arashi, who will face on 10/31 in singles action. Singles action again next as Hideki Hosaka almost pulled off an upset against RO&D ace Taiyo Kea! The ex-FMW veteran took it straight to Kea with big strikes and slams, including a near fall from a release German suplex and a powerbomb. Kea came back with big kicks and the Kea Rush, followed by the big knee lift with his loaded knee pad. Kea then taunted the crowd before putting Hosaka away with the Hawaiian Smasher. George Hines was out for revenge next against Arashi in singles action. They went straight at it exchanging strikes, with Arashi getting the advantage due to his size and power. Hines escaped several belly-to-belly suplex attempts, but eventually gets caught in an Arashi-Otoshi. Arashi whips Hines into the corner and follows in but eats a pair of boots, and Hines quickly goes up top and connects with a missile dropkick. Hines then shoulderblocks Arashi out of the ring, and hits a big plancha out to the floor! Back in the ring, Hines attempts an Urinage, but Arashi escapes and gives him a big backdrop and gets a 2 count. Hines reverses an Irish-whip and hits a big lariat! Hines picks up Arashi and hits a Stunner for a two count! Urinage by Hines for another 2 count! Brainbuster! 2.9!!! Hines is fired up! But Arashi suddenly reverses an Irish-whip into the corner. Arashi then powerbombs Hines out of the corner, goes up top and brings his huge frame down on Hines with a big diving body press! He makes the cover, but Hines somehow manages to kick out at 2.9! Shocked, Arashi quickly picks up Hines and drops him hard with a powerbomb and holds down Hines for the pinfall! This match received a standing ovation from the live crowd as both men put on a tremendous effort and there was even mention of Triple Crown title opportunities for both men! Tag action next as Triple Crown champion Toshiaki Kawada teamed up with Ryuji Hijikata to face the RO&D team of Gladiator, whom Kawada will defend the Triple Crown against on 10/31, and Buchanan. Gladiator quickly used his power advantage to take down Kawada, hitting a release German suplex almost off the opening bell! He would try for another, but Kawada would counter it into a bicycle kick! Kawada then started laying the kicks to Gladiator, who wisely backed off and tagged in Buchanan. Hijikata tags in and he's not intimidated by the bigger gaijin. Buchanan overpowers him and slams him down hard. Suddenly, Buchanan tosses Hijikata out to the apron and Gladiator runs in and powerbombs him off to the floor!!! Kawada comes to his partner's aid out on the floor and fights off the gaijins. Hijikata manages to climb back into the ring, but he's obviously sustained heavy damage. Buchanan hits the scissors-kick on Hijikata and covers, but Kawada makes the save. Hijikata manages to make the tag, and Kawada takes it to the gaijins till they double team him and suplex him down. Gladiator hits the Awesome-Bomb on Kawada, but only gets a 2 count! Kawada hits the gamengiri face kick and goes up top, connecting with a back elbow drop and gets a 2 count. Hijikata tags back in and lays into Buchanan with hard kicks and tries several arm-bar attempts. Hijikata tries a powerbomb, but Buchanan powers out and connects with the scissors kick again, and while Buchanan makes the cover to pick up the win, Gladiator attacks Kawada and powerbombs him off the apron to the floor! Gladiator proclaims himself as the next Triple Crown champion as Kawada is left laying at ring side! The main event of the night saw Tumeric Storm take on the super-star team of Keiji Mutoh & Satoshi Kojima, in preperation for their big tag title match against Nagata & KaShin on 10/31. Mutoh quickly went to work attacking Honma's knees with low-dropkicks and a dragon screw. Kojima tags in and continues the leg work with a dragon screw of his own and putting on a leglock. Kojima takes down Honma with a shoulder block, and Honma staggers to his feet only to eat a Koji-Cutter! Miyamoto quickly rushes in to break the count, and Honma finally manages to make the tag. Miyamoto trades strikes with Kojima, and Kojima reverses an Irish-whip and knocks down Miyamoto. Mutoh back in and again goes for the legs, using a dragon screw leg whip. Miyamoto rolls out of the ring, and Mutoh follows, slamming him on the floor and locking on a figure-four leglock! They get back into the ring, and Mutoh locks on the figure-four again, but Honma comes in and breaks the count. Tumeric Storm then gives Mutoh a double suplex. Mutoh dodges a dropkick by Honma and gives him a Shining Wizard! Kojima & Miyamoto tag in and go at it. DDT by Miyamoto only gets a one count! Kojima escapes a German-suplex attempt and drops Miyamoto with a brainbuster! Mutoh quickly runs in and knocks Honma off the apron as Kojima finishes off Miyamoto with a big Lariat! After the match, Kojima congratulated Tumeric Storm on putting on a strong effort, and wished them luck against the tag champions come 10/31. All Japan 10/24/04 Tokyo Korakuen Hall - 1455 fans - TAKA Michinoku & D-Lo Brown beat Masanobu Fuchi & Nobutaka Araya in 26:36 when TAKA pinned Fuchi with a Michinoku Driver II. 86% - John Tenta beat Masayuki Kono in 12:22 with the Earthquake Drop. 69% - Taiyo Kea beat Hideki Hosaka in 10:30 with the Hawaiian Smasher. 61% - Arashi beat George Hines in 17:48 with a Powebomb-hold. 99% - Gladiator & Buchanan beat Toshiaki Kawada & Ryuji Hijikata in 26:08 when Buchanan pinned Hijikata with a scissors kick. 79% - Keiji Mutoh & Satoshi Kojima beat Tomoaki Honma & Kazushi Miyamoto in 15:17 when Kojima pinned Miyamoto with a lariat. 67% The next big show is the October Giant Series finale, eminating from the Yoyogi National Gymnasium #2. All four titles will be on the line in this big show.
