NOAH 10/23/2004 Results

NOAH big tour ender was highlighted by a big 5-match BURNING VS Team Kaos series and two big title matches. Show started off with Kishin Kawabata scoring a victory over Haruka Eigen. Eigen showed alot of fight here as he wailed away on Kawabata in the early goings with big chops in the corner, but Kawabata rallied back with big strikes of his own an wore down Eigen ground holds before getting the win with a backslide. The Dark Agents team of Saito & Inoue scored another victory in the tag ranks against veterans Aoyagi & Momota. The Agents bullied around the senior team before Saito put away Aoyagi with the Death's Hand piledriver. The Sterness Jr tandem of Kanemaru & Hashi managed to hold off the heavyweight team of Ikeda and Yone next, taking them to a 30:00 draw! Lots of fast-paced, high-flying action in this one, and the Sterness tandem made a bid to challenge for the GHC heavyweight tag titles citing this match as an example that they can go the distance with the champions, and do what Marufuji & KENTA couldn't by beating them for the titles! Another big tag match saw Takayama make a long overdue return to NOAH, and scoring the win for his team with a suplex counter on Sano after his partner Sugiura took the brunt of the punishment for them, probably cause Takayama still isn't 100% healed from his concussion. Akiyama's return to form with several big victories over the course of the tour came to another halt today as he was pinned by Misawa in a tag match! The pin seemed to come out of nowhere as Misawa connected with a big elbow shot that knocked Akiyama's lights out. The much anticipated 5-match series kicked off with Kentaro Shiga picking up the first point for Burning when he won a hard fought match against veteran Richard Slinger. The match was very strike and submission based, with Shiga scoring the submission victory with a rear sleeper lock to put Burning 1-0 in the series. Second match in the series saw to seasoned veterans going at it, with Scorpio coming out on top over Kikuchi with a victory roll after a huge aerial assault of top rope dives and leg drops to tie the series 1-1. The third match in the series saw two big men in Honda and Bison go at it. Both men traded ground holds to start off, but things got really interesting when they brawled on the outside and Bison broke off a piece of the announce table and whacked Honda with it! Bison pretty much controlled the match from there, but Honda showed he still had some fight in him when he kicked out of the Bisontenial, but ultimately fell to Bison's dreaded iron claw slam. Team Kaos lead 1-2! The semi-final of the night saw KENTA & Marufuji retain their GHC Jr. Tag Team Titles over Modest & Morgan. The gaijin squad quickly used their power advantage to control the match, but the champions quickly rallied back with the their speed and agility. Closing moments saw Morgan hit a Pedigree on Marufuji, but KENTA broke the count. Marufuji then gave Morgan a Shiranui and tagged in KENTA while Morgan tagged Modest. KENTA hit a brainbuster on Modest before putting him away with the Busaikyu Knee. This ties the series 2-2! The main event of the night saw two big titans in Kobashi and Vader battled it out for the GHC Heavyweight Championship! Vader took control early as he relentlessly hammered Kobashi with big punches. Kobashi rallied back with chops and the two brawled to the outside where things really picked up! Vader would powerbomb Kobashi on floor, but Kobashi would escape a chokeslam attempt and deliver a half-nelson on the floor! Back in the ring, Kobashi would show his super-human strength when he lifted Vader's 450lbs frame into a avalanche-style brainbuster! Vader just barely managed to kick out, and managed to take down Kobashi with a Vader Tackle. Vader's comeback was short-lived as Kobashi took him down with a big flying shoulder block followed by the Burning Lariat to retain the title and win the series for Burning!
