AJPW 4/15/05 Results

Day 4 of the Champion Carnival kicked off with a big shocker as Love Machine Aeashi scored his first points of the Carnival as he defeated Satoshi Kojima! Kojima had been undefeated up to this point in the Carnival, and may have overlooked his opponent on this day as he was surprised and overwhelmed by the Love Machine leader! LMA would brawl to the outside early on slam Kojima into the concrete floor with an Arashi-otoshi! Arashi would continue his assault in the ring with more slams, but Kojima would battle back with a Koji-Cutter and a big brainbuster. Kojima would attempt a top-rope Koji Cutter, but Arashi would push him off and score the shocking win with a powerbomb! Kojima commented after the match that his previous wins made him overconfident, which was what led to his downfall today. He promised to stay focused for the duration of the tour and win it all. Kensuke Sasaki scored his second points of the Carnival as he beat Shuji Kondo, who put up an incredible effort against Sasaki. You could argue Kondo almost got himself killed as his neck took an absolutely brutal beating at the hands of the former IWGP champion as Sasaki threw heavy lariats, release Germans and suplexes, but Kondo wouldn't stay down! Sasaki would hit the Northern Lights Bomb, but Kondo would get a foot on the ropes! Sasaki finally managed to put away Kondo as he dropped him on his head again with the Volcano Eruption! Kondo had to be carried out in a neckbrace after the match and Sasaki commented he never expected Kondo to take so much punishment, and hope he was ok. A frustrated Taiyo Kea handed Giant Bernard his first loss today as he decimated the Voodoo Murders monster. Kea attacked hard from the opening bell, and Bernard could harly get much offence in before Kea would drop him with a barrage of cobra clutch suplexes and Hawaiian Smashers, including the rare inverted Hawaiian Smasher, before getting the win using Keiji Mutoh's Shining Wizard. Tomoaki Honma's promise of winning his remaining matches were quickly dashed as he loss to veteran Hiroshi Hase, who won his first points with a victory over Honma. Honma dominated early on with mat grappling and heavy striking, but a fire suddenly lit in Hase who blasted back delivering a big triple-rolling German for a near fall. Hase would then hit a double Urinage to win the match and keep Honma out of the running for making the final four. The main event saw Keiji Mutoh maintain his win streak in the Carnival as he overcame the challenge of the massive Jamal. Mutoh would attack Jamal's knees early on to keep the big man off balance, but the reigning tag champion would come back and hit a series of big lariats and a Samoan drop for a near fall. Jamal would even block a Shining Wizard and hit Mutoh with one of his own! But Mutoh would persist, and continue his assault on Jamal's knees before scoring a Shining Wizard for the win.
