NJPW 1/29/06 Results

Big show from New Japan today saw the crowning of new tag team champions as Masahiro Chono & Hiroyoshi Tenzan defeated Takao Omori & Shiro Koshinaka to bring the IWGP tag team titles back to New Japan Pro Wrestling. It was a tough battle for Chono & Tenzan, but they were able to battle through for over 30-minutes before Tenzan was able to get the submission win over Omori with the Anaconda Vice, and avenge his singles loss to Omori from several days earlier. Brock Lesner showed his dominance once again as he decimated former IWGP champion Yuji Nagata in the semi-main event. Nagata hit Lesner hard from the opening bell with kick combos, but was bloodied open by some hard punches from Lesner. Nagata showed a lot of fighting spirit, but was put away by Lesner with a big Shooting Star Press after hitting the Verdict on Nagata. Giant Bernard also made a return to New Japan as he battled Manabu Nakanishi in a hard hitting contest. Nakanishi put on a strong fight against the massive foreigner, able to get him up in the Argentine backbreaker as well as the stretch muffler for near submissions. Bernard was able to use his size and power advantege to put away Nakanishi with after a pair of big body presses. The future aces of New Japan, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Shinsuke Nakamura failed in their bid to get revenge on the Big Mouth Loud duo of Kazunari Murakami & Katsuyori Shibata. The match went to 30-minutes with a lot of back and forth action, but the ending of the match had a bit of controversy to it as Shibata got the win over Nakamura, but Murakami was the legal man in the match for his team. Nakamura was less than happy with the result of the match, and vowed revenge.
