NOAH 10/16/2004 Results

The night kicked off with an excellent tag match with Sugiura & Eigen beating the team of Momota & Suzuki. The old-timers started off with the usual round of mat moves, but things really picked up when the youngsters tagged in! Sugiura hit the Olympic Slam on Momota at one point and Suzuki hit the Blue Destiny on Eigen, but both pin attempts were broken. Finish saw Suzuki kick out of Eigen’s sunset-flip, but was immediately rolled up in a small package for the win. Kentaro Shiga teamed up with Burning teammate KENTA against the gaijin team of Modest & Slinger, and he took a heck of a beating in this match! Shiga’s submission skills just didn’t do him any good here as he was out-wrestled by veterans Slinger & Modest. KENTA had to carry the team, taking out Slinger and dropping Modest with a big brainbuster. Finish saw Shiga’s submission skills backfire on him when he attempted an armbar on Modest, but Modest rolled through into a pin for the flash three count. Marufuji was in singles action next taking on one-half of the challengers for the GHC Jr. tag titles, Donovan Morgan. Marufuji used his speed to counter Morgan’s power. Marufuji would even hit the super-Shiranui at one point, but was too tired to make the cover, but would suck it up to hit another Shiranui for the win. Low Ki was looking for revenge on Makoto Hashi next after Hashi scored an upset pinfall on the Zero-One World 01 Jr Heavyweight Champion. Low Ki immediately took it to Hashi with big kicks and Mongolian chops. Hashi retaliated with machine-gun headbutts and Mongolian chops of his own. Ki battled back and almost took Hashi’s head off with a big kick before ending the match with a tombstone piledriver. Tag action again next as the two aces of Sterness, Akiyama & Kanemaru squared off wit Ikeda & Yone. Kanemaru got in trouble early on when Ikeda threw several big kicks at him, but Kanemaru tossed him to the outside and followed through with a big dive over the top rope on Ikeda! Back in the ring Akiyama would tag in and quickly lock on the King Crab Hold on Ikeda, who made it to the ropes to break the hold. Yone would tag in and instantly get taken down by Akiyama. Kanemaru tagged in and hit a beautiful moonsault press on Yone for a two count. Kanemaru would try another, but Yone would move out of the way and Kanemaru would hit the mat hard! Kanemaru rolled out of the ring, and Yone would take to the skies taking him down with a plancha! Back in the ring, Ikeda would take down Akiyama with the Inazuma Leg Lariat, but Akiyama came back countering the Dai-chan Bomber into a big release German suplex! Akiyama would follow with a big brainbuster for a two count. Akiyama drops Ikeda on his head with an avalanche-style Exploder, but Yone beaks up the pin attempt. Kanemaru quickly fends off Yone while Akiyama hits a second avalanche-style Exploder for the win. Vader was in singles action next against hard-headed Jun Izumuda. This was a big brawl between two big men. Vader hammer away relentlessly at Izu, but he wouldn’t back down and fought back with several big head-butts, staggering the big man back! They would brawl out of the ring and Vader would slam Izu down hard on the concrete floor. Back in the ring, Izu would rally back dropping Vader with a big shoulder block and landing a big diving headbutt off the top rope for a two count. Izumuda would then hit a piledriver! But Izumuda’s momentum was short lived as Vader came back with a HUGE lariat before putting him away with a Big Van Crush splash for the win. The Burning team of Kobashi and Kikuchi squared off against the Dark Agents team of Saito & Inoue in the semi-main event of the night. The Dark Agents team had the right idea keeping Kobashi out of the match, centering on Kikuchi. But Kobashi would eventually tag in and the GHC Heavyweight Champion would face off with Inoue, telling him to bring it! Inoue would charge in and….TAKE DOWN KOBASHI WITH A KITCHEN SINK KNEE LIFT! Saito would tag in they would double team Kobashi with strikes from both side. Saito took Kobashi to the outside, which was a BIG MISTAKE as Kobashi fired back and gave him a half-nelson suplex on the floor! Back in the ring, Kobashi again dropped Saito on his head with a sleeper-suplex, but Inoue would break the pinfall attempt. Saito manages to rally back and suplex Kobashi himself. Kikuchi & Inoue tag in and Inoue levels Kikuchi with a big lariat, and hits a blockbuster pin for a near-fall as Kobashi breaks the cover. Kikuchi hits a big elbow shot and tags Kobashi in who quickly picks up Inoue in a LONG delayed vertical suplex! Saito would come in and Kobashi would give him one! Kobashi then gives Saito the machine-gun chops and plant him with the Burning Hammer for the win! The main event would see WILD II come SO CLOSE to beating Misawa & Ogawa for the GHC tag team titles! Misawa would quickly give Rikioh a backdrop at the beginning of the match, but Rikioh answered with a big running lariat! Ogawa & Morishima tag in, and Morishima has a huge score to settle with Ogawa! Morishima again using his size to overpower Ogawa, but Ogawa comes back with a trademark enzuguiri. Rikioh in and gives Ogawa a big release German suplex! Rikioh then flips Ogawa over with his bearhug/suplex combo. Misawa back in and staggers Rikioh with big elbow shots. Misawa escapes a chokeslam attempt, but eats a big boot from Morishima! Ogawa back in and quickly rolls up Rikioh for a 2 count! Enzuguiri by Ogawa on Rikioh. Morishima tags in, but Ogawa knocks him out of the ring. While the two brawl outside, Misawa blindsides Rikioh and TIGER SUPLEXES HIM OFF THE APRON TO THE FLOOR!!! Back in the ring, Ogawa hits a big backdrop hold on Morishima, but the big man kicks out at 2.9! Misawa tags in and hits the big running elbow on Morishima, makes the cover, but Rikioh recovers in time to break it up! Misawa tries the Roaring Elbow on Rikioh, but he ducks it and gives Misawa a big release German! Morishima chokeslams Misawa and tags in Rikioh, who gives Misawa a ragdoll chokeslam and covers for a 2.9! Misawa escapes a backdrop attempt and tags in Ogawa who scores a quick near fall on Rikioh with a backslide! Morishima is tagged back he hits a big vertical suplex on Ogawa. Misawa gets tagged in and all four men brawl in the ring! In the confusion, Misawa hits a Tiger Driver on Morishima for the win while Rikioh takes out Ogawa with a powerbomb, not seeing his partner get pinned! The challengers were visibly upset by the lost as the champions celebrated a hard fought victory.
